AMUCO points out lapses

Imphal, March 26 2020: AMUCO has appealed to all to ensure that the preventive measures and precautions taken up to combat COVID-19, do not divert away from its intended purpose.

A statement issued by the president of AMUCO alleged that many people are not satisfied with the arrangements made by the Government regarding the quarantine facilities.

Moreover, there are also reports of people unable to reach the phone numbers given by the authorities for emergencies concerning COVID-19, it claimed, appealing the authorities to do the needful at the earliest.

AMUCO then appealed to the Government to look into the matter of PDS food grains not reaching many of the beneficiaries during this time of crisis, and to ensure that food-grains reach all the beneficiaries in view of the current lockdown.

On the other hand, AMUCO pointed out the rise in prices of essential commodities in many parts of the State and urged the Government to look into the matter.

AMUCO also demanded the concerned shops and shopkeepers to refrain from hiking prices of items and goods, apart from demanding the Government to punish such people as per the law.

If the people run out of food grains and other essential items, then they will be forced to break the law and come out to get food, thus rendering the meaning of lockdown completely useless, it reasoned.

AMUCO then appealed to the Government to ensure proper supply of drinking water, urged the Primary Health Centers located in various parts of the State to take in any patient who are brought with symptoms instead of turning them away.

AMUCO also appealed to one and all to laud the health care workers and people who are involved in essential services for their contribution and sacrifice for the public and the society, as they are working by risking their lives.

Furthermore, the association appealed to all not to spread any false rumors and news on social media sites regarding COVID-19.The Government must also take up actions against anyone who indulges in such acts, it added.
