Imphal, April 18 2011:
With the fall of water level at Singda dam and slimming of water flow in Leimakhong river, water supply in and around Imphal city may be seriously affected in the coming days.
The treatment plants at Singda and Kangchup, which supply water to various localities of the city, are running short of water, said a press release issued by Executive Engineer of Water Supply Maintenance Division-I of PHE Dept.
Kangchup plant feeds the zonal reservoirs of Nepra Menjor, Irom Pukhri, Sangaiprou and Chingtham Leikai, while Singda plant caters water to the reservoirs at Lalambung, Cheiraoching and Manipur Legislative Assembly complex.
In addition to the localities where these reservoirs supply drinking water, neighbourhoods like Khagempali, Kwakeithel areas, Tera and Sayang road would be seriously affected, added the press release.
Anticipating the possible crisis, the PHE Department urged the general public to use water economically and bear with the inconvenience.
