Youth leadership training prog concludes

A week-long youth leadership training programme, organised by National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIETLIT) in association with Art of Living, has concluded at NIETLIT, Akampat today.
Manipur University Dean of Students Welfare and MIT Takyelpat Principal RK Hemkumar, NIETLIT (Kolkata, Imphal and Kohima) Director Th Prameshwor and Ideal Girl's College Principal Dr Th Subodhchandra graced the closing function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In his speech, Prof Hemkumar exhorted the trainees to understand their duties towards people and society.
It is unfortunate for the youth of Manipur that the State does not have any academy for leadership training unlike other States, he added.
Lauding NIETLIT, Akampat for conducting the training programme, he assured the gathering that the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University would be urged to extend support in future programmes.
He also expressed concern over frequent involvement of students in different issues besieging the State.
Prof Hemkumar said, "It is our duty to guide our youth on the right path by spending time with them and understanding their ideas, views, expressions and suggestions.
"We have to pursue the good things alone leaving behind all the bad things as the youth are the pillars of the society", he added.
Saying that State youth bring laurels to the country from time to time, Prof Hemkumar exhorted the participants of the training programme to be hard working like these youth.
He added that youth must also take pro-active role in preserving the culture of the State.
In his speech, Dr Th Subodhchandra mentioned about the need of conducting similar training programmes in future as well.
Later, certificates were distributed to the trainees.
35 students took part in the training programme.
