AMSU questions lack of doctors at Kakching CHC

The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) - Kakching District Committee has expressed displeasure over the lack of adequate numbers of doctors at Kakching CHC which is functioning as district hospital.
The Kakching district committee of AMSU in a statement said that the hospital is being ran with only four doctors of which two doctors are utilized at different healthcare centres- one at Upper Primary Health Centre in Kakching Wairi and another at Hiyanglam Primary Health Centre.
The inadequacy in the numbers of doctors is causing forms of inconveniences to the public amidst COVID-19 pandemic, it said while questioning as to how a district hospital is supposed to function only with four doctors.
Above the lack of doctors, how an Ayush Doctor is being appointed as the MO-in-charge of the hospital, questioned AMSU Kakching District Committee and demanded immediate appointment of a regular Doctor to the post.
The committee also noted lack of drivers for ambulances allotted to the CHC and urged the all concerned to do the needful.
It further expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of a doctor, who was on leave since March this year, when the situation is very grave.
The committee also drew the attention of the Chief Medical Officer-Kakching to ensure adequate facilities at the CHC.
The committee is set to launch stirs in case the requirements for Kakching CHC to be considered a district hospital are not fulfilled within 7 days, it continued.
