Imphal, December 12 2018:
Congress MLA Khumukcham Joykisan has claimed that Assembly election results of five States yesterday have visibly shown that the people are getting fed up of the antics of the BJP.
He made the statement during the inauguration event of the newly constructed office of Naharol Leishemba Club (NLC) cum felicitation program at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai today.
Joykisan said that with the election results of the five States yesterday, BJP has started getting the results of its rampant violation of the Constitution, human rights and its oppressive and undeclared emergency in the country.
The results show that the people are fed up of BJP and the voice of the people, media and CSOs cannot be kept shut for long, he added.
Claiming that true democracy will be witnessed in the country next year, the Congress MLA added that the people of Manipur will also be able to live freely without any form of oppression.
If the State Government is good, it should be lauded.
But if the Government is bad, it is not right for the people to keep mum, Joykisan claimed.
One should not be afraid of speaking against any oppression or violation of his or her rights.
It will be useless to think that the voice of the people can be silenced by threatening or corrupting only some individuals, he alleged adding that the State Government has also turned a deaf ear to the cries of the people regarding the land disputes at Kwatha, Haolenphai and Dzuko valley.
On the other hand, he appealed to all not to politicise any developmental works.
During the event, the MLA also handed over Tabung Pukhri which had been newly renovated.
A public toilet which was constructed under the funding of AMUCO, was also inaugurated by the MLA in the presence of NLC workers as well.
NLC president Pratap Leishangthem, IMC Ward No I corporator Gaidon Gangmei, former Director (prosecution) Ng Tejkumar and senior citizen Thangjam Ibotombi attended the event as the presidium members.
