PPCM continues relief work

The Protection and Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM) carried forwards its humanitarian activities in face of the COVID-19 lockdown by reaching out to three Koireng villages namely, Utonglok Koireng, Sadu Koireng and Awang Loinga Koireng with relief materials today.
The relief team of PPCM were extended a warm welcome by residents, village authorities of the three villages and key functionaries of Koireng Youth Organisation upon their arrival, said a press statement of PPCM.
The humane service rendered the PPCM team will further invigorate the emotional and cultural attachment amongst the communities who are living together in the State since time immemorial, said KYO president Romiyo Koireng on the occasion.
He also expressed unhappiness over the Government's laxity in reaching out to small community like Koireng many a time and address their grievances.
"No rogue element or any disease, cannot disturb the emotional and communal harmony among communities if communities respect and belief one another and share whatever amongst us," convenor of PPCM, Jeetendra Ningomba said during the distribution of items including rice, potatoes, onions, edible oil, salt etc to the residents of the three villages.
The villagers in return provided the PPCM with locally grown banana plants, mustard, ginger, turmeric, gourds, bottle gourds, pumpkins, Indian pennywort etc as a mark of respect and gratefulness, the statement continued.
The items presented by Koireng community will be handed out to many needy and marginalised families, it added.
In a similar spirit, the residents of Lamlong Khullen under Chandel district offered edibles to the people of Langathel and Phundrei under Thoubal district today.
Kh Morung Maring, Member of ADC Chandel from Machi Consituency, chairman of Lamlong village authorities led the team from the hill along with members of youth clubs and women societies while Pradhan and Members of Langathel GP took part in the distribution programme in the presence of Thoubal SP Dr Ibomcha, reports our Thoubal correspondent.
ADC Chandel member, Kh Morung Maring expressed that the event was aimed at fostering the bond shared between communities since ages.
Happy and satisfied with the brotherly approach, Langathel GP's Pradhan Md Roshan said that they he along with the residents of Langathel are prepared to conduct the same at Lamlong Khullen to show their respect and solidarity at this crucial time created by the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
