Imphal, April 06 2018:
Official works of most Government offices were affected by the employees' agitation of not entering their respective offices launched since today as a part of the indefinite cease work strike being spearheaded by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.
Impacts of the new phase of agitation could be seen at most Government offices including Education (S), MSERT, Cooperation, Commerce and Industries, Weight and Measures, Revenue, Imphal West DC office, Cooperative Societies Registrar, Relief and Disaster Management, Economics and Statistics, Labour and Employment, Social Welfare, Tourism, Agriculture Department, Forest and Environment, Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Imphal East DC office and Environment and Ecology.
Meanwhile, JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO general secretary Biken Laitonjam maintained that the employees' ongoing agitation is compelled by the State Government.
As the Central Government had already implemented the 7th Pay, the State Government too must implement the same without fail, Biken said.
For this, the State Government should explore all available means and there is no need for the employees to approach the Government for the new pay scales every now and then, he said.
But the JAC has been compelled to launch the agitation in the interest of employees and pensioners as the State Government has failed to do what it must.
It is a matter of concern that the Govt is yet to explore any solution to the issue even though the cease work strike has already completed 15 days, Biken decried.
The JAC was compelled to undertake intense modes of agitation for around two months before the 6th Pay was given to State Government employees and pensioners, Biken said.
He went on to ask whether the BJP-led Government has been waiting for a similar situation.
While pointing out that the BJP's Vision Document released ahead of the last Manipur Legislative Assembly election promised to implement the 7th Pay in case the party is elected to power, Biken lamented that the party is now acting totally indifferent to its own election promise.
