Foundation laid for bridge over river Iril

Works and RD and PR Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh laid the foundation stone for the construction of a bridge over Iril river at Naharup Pangong under package number MN 04118 of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the presence of Kshetrigao A/C MLA N Indrajit today.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline, Biswajit stated that the bridge will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 6.33 crore by a private company namely, Meitram Construction.
He also informed that the bridge will be constructed using new technology and is targeted for completion by 2020 .
Seeking cooperation of the people in undertaking development works, the Minister said that it is for all to see that road connectivity has been improved considerably since the formation of the new Government.
He further highlighted the importance of connectivity in in bringing development, peace, unity and bridging the gap among the people.
The Minister also maintained that under PMGSY phase II, altogether 458 works have been sanctioned, out of which 53 works will be bridges to be constructed both in the valley and hills.
On the construction of the bridge, local MLA Indrajit said that the construction of an RCC bridge instead of a suspension bridge will be beneficial for the people of the area.
The RCC bridge will improve the connectivity in the area, he added.
