While also observing that Alice Kamei case does not fit the bill to be treated as 'State issue,' the public meeting convened by ZU Imphal Zone and Kabui Mother's Association (KAMA) also resolved not to support and cooperate the ongoing agitation and bandh spearheaded by AZSU, ZSUM and ZYF pertaining to Alice Kamei case, said a joint statement issued by Ranjita Golmei, general secretary KAMA; Athai Kamei, chairman of ZU (Bpr & Sadar area zone) and G Pougangung, chairman of ZU Imphal Zone.
The meeting further decided that any kind of financial contribution or subscription sought by any organisation in Imphal valley should not be entertained without the knowledge and consent of ZU Imphal; Bpr and Sadar zones with immediate effect, it stated.
While also feeling the pain and grief faced by the general public of Manipur and the Noney fire victims in particular who are facing shortage of food, shelter and other essential commodities at this critical juncture which is compounded by the ongoing bandh, the meeting demanded immediate withdrawal of the total bandh along NH-37 .
It added that any consequences arising out of the bandh should be the responsibility of the student and youth leaders while urging the Govt to rein in.
