Senapati observes Patriots' Day

Thousands of people across Senapati district joined in the Patriots' Day observance prog ramme at General Thangal Ecological Park, Mayang khang, Saitu-Gamphazol sub-division in Sadar Hills, Senapati district.
The pro gramme was held under the aegis of the district adminis tration and Thangal Union.
ML Markson, Chairman ADC Senapati graced the occasion as chief guest and Jacintha Lazarus, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati attended as functional president.
John Hingba, Vice Chairman, ADC Senapati; K Kabib, Superintendent of Police, Senapati and DK Thangboi, Additional DC, Sadar Hills attended as guests of honour.
Manipur Police, Senapati, paid floral tributes at the statue of General Thangal at the park.

Speaking at the occasion, ADC Senapati Chairman, ML Markson said we can fearlessly and proudly claim Manipur as our land because of the sacrifices of our leaders including Gen Thangal.
While highlighting the qualities of General Thangal and his love for education, bravery and sacrifice, the ADC Senapati Chairman urged the crowd to carry forward the vision and dreams of General Thangal.
Jacintha Lazarus inspired the people of Senapati with the life of General Thangal.
She said General Thangal apart from his bravery and various contributions towards the society is also known for his involvement in the establishment of Johnstone School, which was one of the most important turning points of education sector in the State.
SP K Kabib also motivated the people to follow the footsteps of General Thangal who even though lived among Meeteis for over 60 years remained a true Thangal.
Apart from Dr Chand Thangmi, president, Thangal Union, various frontal organizations of the district also participated in the observation.
Patriotic song by Nteiramphung Women Society, prayer by Reverend Kd Phungshim, TNBA, presentations to the guests and other participants marked the occasion.
