ACACDO celebrates 1st anniversary

The first foundation day of Aimol Custom and Culture Development Organisation (ACACDO) was celebrated today at Aimol Ngairong village under Tengnoupal Block of Chandel district.
Speaking at the occasion, Athoi Bongte Aimol said a community is bound to face gradual extinction if the people belonging to that community neglect to protect and preserve their indigenous culture.
As such, he urged all members of the Aimol community to preserve their culture in times to come.
Athoi Bongte said there are 15 Aimol villages in the present State of Manipur with little Aimol households at some villages.
Three villages in Assam are also inhabited by Aimols while their presence is also felt at Vairengte and Kolasip in Aizawl.
The tribe is appended recognition by the Govt of India as a scheduled tribe vide notification 24477 of Oct 29, 1956. The function was attended by Dr K Sushila Devi, Deputy Director of State Archives as the chief guest while president of Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur Akhup Serto presided the function.
L Darsinso Aimol, MCS, CEO of ADC Chandel; Wanneilen Serto Aimol, MFS, SubTreasury Officer, Moreh and Ch Thangkholian Aimol, AI (S)/Coordinator of SSA, ZEO Chandel were the guests of honour.
Ex-Minister C Doungel was the special guest of the programme which was also attended by leaders of various civil society organisations and NGOs.
Various cultural items of Aimols were showcased during the programme.
