Six militants of various UG groups arrested

Kangpokipi, July 05 2017:
Troops of Red Shield Division apprehended six hardcore militants of the proscribed Kuki Unification Frontal Organization (KUFO) and Thadou People's Liberation Army (TPLA) in separate incidents in Kangpokpi District .
Troops of 38 Assam Rifles under the supervision of 38 AR Kangpokpi Post Commander Maj Syed Irfan, apprehended one KUFO cadre from the Kangpokpi DHQs surrounding areas on June 29 at around 10.30 pm .
The arrested cadre has been identified as Satkholen alias C Sent (28), s/o Doukholun from Lasan village in T Waichong Sub Division, Kangpokpi District .
Another TPLA cadre was arrested along the NH near Changoubung yesterday morning by 38 Assam Rifles Kangpokpi Post and Maram Battalion during a joint operation conducted in the area .

The arrested TPLA cadre has been identified as Demginlun Kipgen (18), s/o Haokai Kipgen of Kangpokpi ward no 2 .
In another major blow to the proscribed KUFO by troops of Assam Rifles, four cadres of KUFO were apprehended by Jwalamukhi Battalion under the aegis of Senapati Brigade yesterday in Saikul Sub Division .
The arrested militants were identified as Henjahao Kuki (19), s/o Mangchong Lhouvum of Thenjang village, T Waichong Sub Division, Letminlen Lhoujem (26), s/o Jemlun Lhoujem of Wakotphai village, T Waichong Sub Division, Thongkholun Lhoujem (20), s/o Sehjang Lhouvum of Motbung village, Saitu Sub Division and Lunjahao Lhouvum (23), s/o Thangkom Lhouvum of Lasan Village, T Waichong Sub Division .
According to a source, the apprehended cadres confessed of their involvement in various extortions and others nefarious activities in Kangpokpi district on behalf of their organization .
It also stated that Letminlen Lhoujem confessed to have been involved in kidnapping of Forest Officer Angam Kom on April 13 .
The Assam Rifles troops also reportedly recovered three automatic rifles, one pistol and a huge amount of ammunition and other war like stores from their possessions.
