Hailing Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing for his maiden inspection visit to Community Health Centre, Kanggui yesterday along with RD&PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip and MLA Nemcha Kipgen, the Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills today urged the Health Minister to upgrade the CHC to a District Hospital at the earliest taking into account health concerns of the local people.
Speaking to local newspersons this evening at Kanggui, KSO Sadar Hills president Thangminlen Kipgen on behalf of the student body conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Health Minister and his colleagues for paying a visit to the CHC.
The growth of population by far under CHC Kanggui is beyond the capacity of CHC administration and the medical facilities provided under the Centre could not meet needs of the people these days, said Thangminlen adding that need to upgrade the CHC to the level of District Hospital is utmost to ensure the general public do not suffer from want of well-equipped medical centre.
He continued that the student body highlighting hardships faced by the people as well as infrastructure needs of the CHC submitted a memorandum to the Health Minister for early upgradation of the CHC on his maiden visit to the centre yesterday.
"We also demand posting of adequate number of doctors at the centre and sanction additional CMO's post for Sadar Hills," said Thangminlen.
Posting of five doctors at T Waichong PHC considering the area of coverage and ensuring round the clock service at Saikul and Motbung PHCs are the other demands mentioned in the memorandum.
In the meantime, the student body appealed to the general public as well as the local CSOs to extend all possible cooperation to the CHC authorities for proper and smooth functioning of the health centre.
It also urged the MO in-charge, doctors, nurses and staff members of the CHC to work and render their best service to the public.
