7th Pureilomba Handball Tournament: MPSC emerge champs in women's section

Imphal, May 04 2014: On a day of high drama, MPSC downed CYDOL, Chajing by a margin of 21 goals to 17 in the women's section of the 7th Pureilomba Handball Tournament, while in the men's section, CYDOL Chajing failed to turn up for the final match against MPSC.

Riding on a magnificent display from N Sunibala who scored 12 goals, MPSC downed a spirited CYDOL, Chajing by a margin of 21 goals to 17.Sunibala was ably assisted by Ch Luxmi and O Sandhyarani with four goals each while M Dimple chipped in with one goal.

The fight back for CYDOL, Chajing was led by O Anjali who top scored with 7 goals, followed by L Jeni and A Bijenti with 3 goals each and I Ronibala and S Som with two goals each.

In the men's section, the final ended in an anti climax as CYDOL Chajing failed to turn up for the match against MPSC.

It is not yet clear whether men's team of CYDOL Chajing will be penalised or not for failing to turn up for the final match.

The winning team (women's section), MPSC walked away with the championship trophy plus a cash prize of Rs 7000 while the runners up had to settle for Rs 5000 .

The best disciplined team award went to YLK Chingarel while the top scorer of the tournament was O Anjali of CYDOL, Chajing.

The best player award went to S Roma of CYDOL, Chajing while the best goal keeper award too was bagged by CYDOL's Naobi.

N Sunibala of MPSC bagged the top scorer title in the final match while the O Sandhyarani of MPSC was adjudged the best player of the final.

Though the final match in the men's section had to be abandoned due to the absence of CYDOL, Chajing, the best disciplined team award went to LWYC, Thoubal Leishangthem.

The top scorer title went to Ratan of CYDOL Chajing, while the best player title was bagged by Kh Bungcha of MRC, Mairenkhong.

The best goalkeeper title went to Kh Ingocha of Thoubal College.

The MLA of Langthabal Assembly Constituency K Shyam attended the final function as the chief guest while child specialist Dr Shyamkumar Laishram of Imphal Hospital was the president.

President of CYDOL Club, H Ibohal Singh, Advisor of CYDOL Club, B Joy Sharma, AI of Thoubal P Indramani and Section Officer of IFCD I Ranbir attended the closing function as guests of honour.
