Imphal, May 04 2014:
All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) on Sunday threatened to call a state-wide bandh if the Government of Manipur fails to bring a solution over the case of Rushdie Ahmed Shah, who was accidentally shot at by cops on April 22 last by May 7 .
Rushdie (18) is now undergoing treatment at Shija Hospitals here in critical condition.
He was picked up by a team of Imphal East police commandos on the charge of being involved in a police vehicle theft case.
He is a resident of Kwakta Ward No-8 under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district.
As the youth was being interrogated inside a bullet-proof vehicle of the cops, one of the commandos accidentally shot him on the chest.
The teen's parents today appealed to the authorities to file a fresh FIR in connection with the incident and rejected the earlier FIR which they claimed to be unauthentic.
Earlier in the day, leaders of All Manipur Muslim Organisation Coordinating Committee (AMMOCC), United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organisation (UMMWDO), AMMSO and Muslim Students' Union of Manipur (MSUM) along with a team of mediapersons visited Shija Hospitals to know the condition of Rushdie.
Demanding justice in the case, AMMSO president Md Farid Khan said the student body condemned for the alleged false FIR registration over the Rushdie incident.
"If Manipur Government fails to bring a solution by May 7, Muslim social organizations will seek support from all other civil society organizations in the State to call for a Manipur bandh," Khan warned.
