Rebel leader's wife remanded

Imphal, June 28 2017:
Longjam (o) Malem alias Thoibi (33) self styled lieutenant of PREPAK (Pro) and wife of the outfit's chairman has been remanded to police custody for five days till July 1, after she was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West Court today .
She was produced before the Court with a prayer by the Investigating Officer of the case, SDPO Imphal police station, for remanding her to police custody for five days .
The police prayer mentioned that Malem alias Thoibi was arrested yesterday at around 1.15 pm by a team of Imphal West police commando after getting specific information about the movement of some underground outfit members in and around Khoyathong area .
The security team, which also included women police personnel, and led by OC Imphal West Inspector P Achouba under the supervision of SP (Ops) Imphal West N Modhunimai rushed to the area and conducted frisking and checking near the Khoyathong bus parking .
During the frisking and search operation, Thoibi was seen coming by foot in a very suspicious manner and was detained for verification, it added .
It stated that during preliminary interrogation, she revealed herself to be an active cadre of PREPAK (Pro), holding the rank of self styled lieutenant .
The police prayer further mentioned that Malem disclosed that she joined the outfit in 2002 through one self styled sergeant Nganba of PREPAK (Pro) and got basic military training under the command of Lakpa at Sajik Tampak .
She further disclosed that she is presently working under the command of L Subash alias Paliba, self styled chairman of PREPAK (Pro) .
She was later arrested after observing necessary formalities .
The Court perused the report submitted by the police and remanded Malem to police custody for five days till July 1 .
