Stella's Library cum Conference Hall opened at Kohima

It is a red letter day today for the Stella Higher Secondary School (SHSS), Kohima when a "Library cum Conference Hall" has been formally opened in a simple but symbolic function held here at the SHSS today.
The dedication of the "Library cum Conference Hall" has assumed significance as it was also commemoration of "Silver Jubilee" of the SHSS, Kohima.
The SHSS was established way back in 1987 and it has been 25 complete years today.
Opening the "Library cum Conference Hall" here at the SHSS today, Additional Chief Engineer, PHE, Er Kevisekho Krose, Chief Guest, said with the opening of the "Library" in the School, the school would march higher and higher as its students would benefit a lot from it.
He explained that "Library" was a reservoir of knowledge and it should be fully utilized by the student communities and they should have the reading habits which were declining these days.
Stating that education was a serious component for humans who were in various professions, Krose said various past national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharal Nehru, other great politicians, scientists, etc were all serious about educations.
"In fact, those politicians who were not serious about educations were not "good politicians," he pointed out.

Explaining the value of knowledge getting from the educations, the Chief Guest mentioned that many students might be toppers of colleges, universities, IAS exams, etc.
but if they didn't have deep knowledge from various complicated educations, they would not be able to carry the masses in right direction.
"Knowledge can do a lot of things," he said adding, "The opening of Library in the School is the beginning in that direction but students should fully utilize the importance of these facilities" .
Mentioning about the present cyber age, Krose said though lot of information could be searched through interest these days but most of the time all these records became momentary as they could not be kept mindfully for a longer period of time.
Whereas books could be kept for centuries and it became treasures.
Therefore students should not be swayed away completely towards internets, rather they should more focus on the books, the Chief Guest stated.
He also told the students to overcome all the problems they came along and advised that they take it as a challenge in their lives and try to overcome them.
He said Naga students were talented and they were no less intelligent than others.
"It only depends as to how you overcome all those odds in your lives," he said.
"We have to look beyond visible things" .
Krose also advised the school teachers and authorities to keep inculcating the student communities to develop reading habits so that they would fully benefit from this library.
He also lauded the proprietors of the school for being able to provide many facilities to the school.
He hoped that in the year to come, more books would be added to the library.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Principal of the SHSS Mrs Kechangunuo said it was a dream of them to have a library in the school.
"Today this dream is realized and rightfully dedicated on the completion of the 25 years of the school today," she said adding, "This library will remain for the welfare of the student communities of the SHSS" , Administrator, proprietors, faculty members of the SHSS and senior students of the school were among others who attended the function which was chaired by PJ Nathan, Head Master, SHSS.
