Housewife found dead in suspicious manner

Imphal, December 23 2014:
A teenaged housewife was found dead in a suspicious manner at Nungei Makha Leikai under Lilong PS in Thoubal district yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Arina (19) originally from Oinam Sawombung Makha Leikai, Imphal West.
Arina and husband, Md Lukuman (22) married on Aug 10 this year.
The woman is said to be four months pregnant.
Rahamujan, the biological mother of Arina, said that her daughter came to her parental home last Friday after a quarrel.
Arina sent her younger brother to her in-laws home yesterday morning at Nungei to collect the documents of her routine medical examinations.
As her husband had not given the documents to her brother, Arina went to collect the same herself.
In the meantime, a man identified as Aslam asked the mother of Arina over the phone to come and talk things over regarding her daughter.
Rahamujan said that she reached the house of her daughter's in-laws house around 2.30 pm.
She found her daughter's mother in-law staying at the house alone.
When she enquired the whereabouts of her daughter, Arina's mother in-law led her to their room where Arina was found hung to death.
Rahamujan swiftly returned to her locality to break the news.
Subsequently, a JAC in connection with the death of Arina was formed during meeting of the locality last night.
At the same time, the husband of Arina, Lukuman surrendered to the police yesterday and he was produced before the Court of CJM, Thoubal.
The Court remanded him to police custody till Dec 29 .
A case has been registered at Lilong PS and investigation is on.
Locals of Oinam Sawombung stormed Lilong PS this evening after staging a sit in.
They shouted slogans demanding fitting punishment against the culprit/s.The locals also demanded that post mortem examination of Arina be done with video coverage.
Convener of the JAC, Md Sher Khan said that agitation would be continued until fitting punishment is given to the culprits.
Amongst others, the JAC demands included payment of compensation to the victim's family.
