Imphal, April 17 2013:
The Kuki Student Organistion, Imphal Branch (KSO-IB) and Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLI) felt really unfortunate on the allegation charged by IMC Ward No 22 Councillor Ngamminlun Kipgen which was carried in local dailies on April 17 as student bodies trying to invoke communal problem with regard to the attack of tribal student tenants of Khanglabung Leirak, Soibam Leikai in Imphal.
The Kuki students' body and that of Tangkhul students said they never wanted the incident be communalized instead demanded the authority concern to book the culprits involved in the attacked and vandalization of properties of the tenant tribal students within three days time and there's nothing communal in it.
"Moreover, the student bodies' statements were based on reports of the victim students and spot verification conducted by student leaders on April 15," they added.
"Therefore, the student bodies would like to question the Ward Councillor, if he ever had an interaction with the victim tribal students before branding the student bodies as communal one.
It seems he encourages mobs violence where tribal students can be attacked," the KSO-IB and TKLI said.
The KSO-IB and TKLI said they would also like to clarify that, the student bodies and the landlord have no connection whatsoever and were not concerned of the dispute if any between the landlord and the local people.
"However, we are really concerns about helpless tenant tribal students being attacked and their properties vandalized.
Therefore, there's no change on our stance, to resort serious forms of agitations if the culprits are not booked and punished according to the law of the land at the earliest time", the KSO and TKL added.
