Imphal, April 17 2013:
Unhappy over the failure of the State and Central Governments to consider its demand for shifting away the surrendered cadres of KYKL (MDF) from the camp of 20 Bn Assam Rifles located in the heart of Chandel district headquarters, Chandel Naga People's Organization (CNPO) has decided to call an indefinite bandh in whole of Chandel district with effect from midnight of April 19 .
Announcing this to media, General Secretary of CNPO BD Betha Anal said that the organization has already submitted memorandum to Home Minister Gaikhangam and Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on March 27 and April 6 respectively.
However, so far there has been no response from the side of the Govt. Therefore, CNPO has been compelled to go ahead with the decision of calling bandh.
Educational institutions, medical, electricity, PHED, media and all forms of religious ceremonies would, however, be exempted from the purview of the bandh, he added.
Even after the bandh, if the Government continues to pay a deaf ear to the demand, then economic blockade would be the next step course of action, Betha warned.
