Awareness programme on health, hygiene and sanitation held

Imphal, August 05 2017:
Under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Public Health Engineering Department and NYK Imphal West organised a day long awareness programme on health, hygiene and sanitation at Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School today .
Retired Chief Engineer L Ibomcha Singh, principal of the school A Rajmata Devi and Sucheta Devi of Zonal Education Office, Imphal West were the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Dr Justina, Medical Officer, Ch Lokendra Singh and Romila, Zilla Prerak were the resource persons of the awareness programme in which 152 participants attended .
The programme was held with power point presentation for the convenience of the students, youth leaders and the teaching community .
An interaction session between the students and resource persons was also held.
Similar programme was also organised at N Tomchou Higher Secondary School, Mayang Imphal .
In his key note address, Y Laksman Singh, District Youth Coordinator, NYK Imphal West highlighted the programmes of Swatchhta Pakwada in Imphal West from August 1 to 15.The celebration is being organised jointly by NYK, NSS, PHED, CMO, ZEO, IMC etc.
under the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West .
During the celebration, a wide range of programmes and activities on Administering Swatchhta Pledge, cleaning of village/localities, bus stand, market place, historical monuments, public statues, school, college, hospitals etc.
are taking place .
On the other hand, an intensive campaign on ODF, Health, Hygiene and Sanitation with distribution of IEC materials prepared by PHED/CCDU is also taking place in the district.
Organising seminar, essay writing, painting, slogan writing and quiz are the major components of the celebration .
The NYK and NSS Volunteers of Manipur College along with the youth leaders of Sunrise Youth Club cleaned up the community pond at Mongsangei .
The NYK vounteers and the club leaders also cleaned up Singjamei Super Market, Mayanglanjing, Top Siphai, Namthalong, Thangmeiband, Ngairangbam, Akham of Imphal West .
Awareness and distribution of IEC materials took place at D Regina School, Chingmeirong.
