Personnel of BSF Subsidiary Training Centre, Churachandpur claimed to have caught a tout who allegedly collected handsome amount of money from several youths with false promise to recruit them as BSF constables.
A statement issued by the DIG, STC, BSF CCpur identified the tout as Tapas Sarkar of Vishal Garh, Sipal Jala district of Tripura.
He was caught on February 27 while going to the STC campus along with 19 youths who were duped by him.
After getting information about recruitment of constables in BSF from newspapers, Tapas, who developed acquaintances with BSF officers in Karimganj area where he was working as security guard in a hotel, lured some boys of Tripura West district and took amount ranging from Rs 8000 to 10,000, the BSF statement said.
Tapas posed as a BSF constable to the youths and maintained having an impressive relations with his officers, the statement said adding he was neither a BSF constable nor have any relations with BSF officers.
On Feb 27 evening, he reached the gate of STC along with 19 youths who were issued false admission cards for written test by fabricating the stamp of BSF Ccpur and forged signature of the authority.
However, when he was not able to give proper reply to certain questions about the department and his unit during preliminary questioning, he revealed his fake identity and the entire story about taking money from the youths and issuing fake admit cards.
He had himself photographed in BSF uniform with formation sign of BSF Silchar frontier in two of his mobile phones.
The tout has been handed over to Churachandpur PS for further investigations, the statement added.
