The Hill Tribal Council, Moreh has deplored the non-completion of the Moreh auditorium even after five years.
Speaking to correspondents based at the border town today, president of Hill Tribal Council Moreh, Thongkhohao Haokip informed that the work order for construction of the auditorium was issued on August 25, 2001 in the name of special contractor PWD L Ibocha Khuman of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Imphal.
The estimated cost of the auditorium was Rs 73.90 lakhs.
Even as some construction work was initiated in the beginning, the auditorium funded under BADP remained far from completion today.
As per the work order, the construction work was supposed to be completed within 18 months.
On December 17, 2004, the All Community Welfare Forum Moreh submitted an application to the Tribal Development Minister Phungzathang appealing for early completion of the construction work.
Again, on November 26 this year, another application urging for completion of the auditorium was submitted to the Chief Minister through Minister Ngamthang Haokip.
Despite the repeated applications, there has been no positive response from the State Government, lamented Thongkhohao.
Conveying the difficulties faced by people of the border town due to lack of a proper hall, the Hill Tribal Council president reiterated his appeal to complete construction of the auditorium at the earliest.
