Court office gutted in fire

The office of the Public Prosecutor cum Government Advocate (High Court) Manipur located at North AOC adjacent to Nagaland Transport booking office, Imphal was reduced to ashes after unknown miscreants set it on fire around 1.15 am today.
The fire which gutted 16 rooms of the office complex destroyed important case records, official documents, furniture, electronic equipment including 16 computer sets, four photo copiers, and other files.
The incident was first detected by a neighbour at around 1:30 am who raised an alarm alerting the neighbourhood including the office chowkidar.
They immediately put in efforts to douse the ravaging fire and called the Manipur Fire Service.
By the time, the fire was contained, the office building and its infrastructure were completely gutted.
Naorem Sanjoy who has been working as a Chowkidar of the office complex for the last 30 years informed that no security personnel was deployed to guard the office complex which housed important case records and also five residential quarters of State Govt employees.
He added that there is no clue as to who set ablaze the office complex.
To take stock of the unfortunate incident, Law and Legislative Affairs Minister I Hemochandra, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore, Court officials, lawyers and police visited the site.
While Hemochandra commented that there is no clue as to who set ablaze the office complex, an FIR was lodged at Imphal West police station regarding the incident.
