Imphal, August 26 2016 :
With a view to the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election, BJP Manipur Pradesh organised a political awareness campaign at different places of Chingai Assembly Constituency, Ukhrul district.
The campaign which was launched from August 25 has covered Jessami, Kharasom, Nungbi and some other places.
Speaking in the course of the campaign, Dr Khasim Ruivah dismissed the allegations raised by some political parties that BJP is an anti-tribal party.
BJP is neither anti-tribal nor anti-Naga.
This was testified without any doubt by the BJP Government's nomination of MC Mary Kom as a Member of Rajya Sabha.
BJP has been working for the welfare of tribal people, Ruivah asserted.
Prof Joykumar said that BJP is one political party which has a very long history.
It is committed to equality and uniform development.
Stating that many key office bearers of BJP belong to different religious faiths, Prof Joykumar asserted that BJP never segregates people on the line of religion.
Even as the Central Government has been investing huge amount of funds for the development of Manipur, the State Government has been unable to implement any of the welfare schemes successful thereby impeding the State's development, he charged.
The present governance is akin to monarchy.
At the same time, people's morality has degenerated to the extreme, Prof Joykumar said.
Dr RK Ranjan remarked that India saw a dramatic change after 70 years of Congress rule since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the BJP Government.
BJP has three targets namely protection of the country's sovereignty, making Indian people worthy of respect in front of the international community and upliftment of the underprivileged classes, he said.
The BJP Government is a people oriented party and it is committed to eradicating corruption and bring about transparency in governance.
The NDA Government knew that India can never be called a developed country as long as the North East region languishes in underdevelopment.
It was with this conviction that the DoNER Ministry was set up when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister of India.
Even today, the BJP Government has granted a number of packages for the North Eastern region.
Establishment of a National Sports University in Manipur is an example, Dr Ranjan said.
Not only the North Eastern region, the BJP Government has been paying special attention to women.
LPG connection is being given free of cost to women who belong to BPL category.
However, the State Government has been able to submit economic status reports of only five districts out of the total nine districts so far.
This is a clear indication that the incumbent State Government is not a people oriented Government.
As a part of the political awareness campaign, Thang-Ta performances were shown at different places of Chingai AC.
BJP Manipur Pradesh treasurer Robin Blackie too took part in the campaign.
