People rally against Nungei violence

Carrying a message of averting all communal confrontations in future after violent confrontations broke out between two neighbouring villages at Lilong Nungei recently, a large number of people took out a protest rally today.
The mass rally which was preceded by a sit-in at Lilong Nungei Ching was jointly organised by youth clubs and Meira Paibis of Lilong Chingya Jabre Ching, Lilong Nungei Ching, Waithou Lipokpi and Laimang Konjin.
Waithou Women Welfare and Development Society secretary Sorokhaibam Memnaobi the recent confrontations created a panicky situation in other neighbouring villages too.
She appealed to both the parties to calm down, reconcile and avoid such ugly incidents in future.
She decried that the Government did not intervene in time.
Gulerjan, a woman leader of Lilong Nungei Ching said that people of both the communities settled in the neighbouring villages were also quite perturbed by the violent confrontations.
She said that the mass rally cum sit-in was organised to convey a message to both the parties to calm down, reconcile and make peace.
