Engineer abducted

Jiribam, December 22 2016:
A group of unidentified armed persons abducted the NF Railway Engineer presently engaged in the Jiri � Tupul Railway line project (Bridge No 44A1) on December 20 at around 7:45 pm.
Panicked workers have fled the work site, our correspondent reports.
According to the workers, NF Railway Engineer Chinmoi Dutta Gupta (50) from West Bengal, was abducted from the work site by a group of armed persons at around 7:45 pm on December 20 .
Around 200 workers from Uttar Pradesh are presently engaged in the Tunnel No 2 Bridge No 44 construction works of Jiri � Tupul Railyway line.
Some of the workers were allegedly thrashed by the armed group.
The nearest CRPF post was informed about the matter immediately after the armed groups left, but they only arrived at the work site the following day.
Terrified workers fled the work site today, this correspondent reports.
The fleeing workers said they will continue the construction only when adequate security is provided.
Mention may be made, the work site was protected by the 5th Manipur Rifles personnel.
On December 17, the forces were shifted to Tunnel No 1 .
