Imphal, April 21 2012:
Retail fuel outlets of the State have decided to join the country-wide strike slated on April 23 during which all oil pumps would remain shut.
Retail fuel outlets have been demanding commission as calculated based on a certain percentage of the price of fuel oils in place of the existing practice of giving fixed commission.
It is in pursuit of this demand that the retail fuel outlets of the country decided to go on strike on April 23 .
However, if the one-day strike proves ineffective, the nation-wide strike may be extended or re-launched again.
On the other hand, the Indian Oil Corporation has run into huge deficits in the face of the continuous hike in crude oil price.
In case the Government does not take up certain remedial measures in the form of raising the price of fuel oils or enhancing tax rate, IOC may even stop import and distribution of fuel oils.
