Dr O Ibomcha (Mission Director, National Health Mission, Manipur and Director of Health Services) has stated that an essay writing competition and a painting competition would be organised at Medical Directorate campus, Lamphelpat on March 3 as a part of the International Ear Care Day observation.
Speaking to media persons at the Chamber of Director Health Services inside Medical Directorate campus, Dr O Ibomcha Singh said, "International Ear Care Day will be observed at Medical Directorate campus, Lamphelpat on March 3.As a part of the function, an English essay writing competition as well as a painting competition will also be organised the same day" .
The painting competition would be for students from class VI to VIII and the essay writing competition would be divided into two categories namely for students from class 9 to 10 and 11 to 12 .
"The competitions have been organised as a joint collaboration between National Programme for Prevention & Control of Deafness (NPPCD) and National Health Mission, Manipur under the theme Role of the General Public in Prevention and Control of Deafness", he said.
The essay writing competition will start from 9 am till 10 am and the painting competition will start from 11 am till 12 pm.
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position holders of both competitions will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000, Rs 5000, Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 respectively.
The application form for the said competitions can be had from the NPPCD cell room number 230 in Medical Directorate building and the last date for submission of the form is February 27.He pointed out that WHO has been observing March 3 every year as International Ear Care Day ever since the Beijing World Meet of 2006 where leaders of different countries came together to eradicate deafness.
There are more than 60000 people afflicted with deafness in the State.
