Imphal, July 18 2012:
Against the backdrop of the washing away of a suspension bridge and heavy landslides along the Teguaram-Phoklang road due to recent flood in Tamenglong district which badly affected the daily activities of the surrounding villagers, the Teguaram Village Authority has sought the intervention of MLA of Tamei AC to redress the plights of the people.
A representation submitted to the local MLA by Teguaram VA informed that the supply lines and daily activities of Teguaram, Phoklong, Taningjam, Katangam and Ketiang villages under Tousem subdivision in Tamenglong district have been badly affected by the recent flood.
The flood had swept away the suspension bridge that connected Teguaram and Taningjam villages and the landslide along the Teguaram-Phoklong road caused navigation of the road difficult, the representation said.
As a result, the people of the area are now facing acute scarcity of food and medicines, it said while drawing the attention of the local MLA to redress their grievances.
