ESM rally held at Kangpokpi

An Ex-servicemen rally (ESM) was organised by Red Shield Division at Kangpokpi by Jwalamukhi Battalion of Senapati Brigade today.
The rally was attended by about 250 veterans and 50 Veer Naris hailing from Sadar Hill and Imphal West district.
According to a statement issued by the PIB, Defence, Imphal, the rally was inaugurated by Brigadier Jeetendra Ohri, Commander Senapati Brigade.
In attendance were Commanding Officer Jwalamukhi Battalion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sadar Hills, DK Thangboi, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sadar Hill, K Lhouvum, Sub Deputy Collector, Saparmai-na, TT Opendro, bank offi- cials from Kangpokpi, Sapar-maina, Sekmai, Official-In- charge of Sekmai, Saparma-ina, Kangpokpi Police Sta- tion and District Sainik Welfare Officer.

The focus of the rally was to resolve anomalies in disbursement of pension, land and legal cases being confronted by the Veterans and their families.
A number of stalls from various welfare agencies and organisations were setup at the venue.
A medical team fully equipped with modern equipment and medicines was also in place.
A career counselling cell for guidance and motivation of the youth was also installed at the venue.
A large number of ESM attending the rally also approached the Suvigya Cell established to check the correct disbursement of the pension in their account.
A Canteen Store Department extension counter was also put up to assist them in purchase of essential commodities.
A number of Veer Naris were honoured by the chief guest.
The Commander presented a sewing machine to Nekhochong wife of late Sepoy Lenkhohao of 15 Assam Regiment who had attained martyrdoms in year 1993.Cash award was also presented to Anita Dahal w/o (L) Rifleman R Dahal, to facilitate studies of her children.
In addition to this five ESM Widows were also honoured on the occasion, it said.
