Langol Tarung celebrates foundation day

A cultural festival cum foundation day of Langol Tarung kick-started today at the village on the theme 'fight for righteousness' .
The opening ceremony of the two-day event was graced by Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykishan, Tarung village chairman Meishongku Panmei and MC Vice-Chairperson Thambaljao Phaomei as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Ignition of the sacred fire, hoisting of flag and presentation of traditional dance and music were the main highlights of the opening ceremony.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA Joykishan asserted that hill people and plain people have been living together in Thangmeiband Assembly segment since ages.

He then prayed that Thangmeiband AC may serve as a fine example of hill-valley unity all over Manipur.
Construction and repairing of IVRs were delayed on account of Municipal Council elections and Assam State Assembly elections.
Nonetheless, road construction works would be initiated shortly, Joykishan said.
The problem of shortage of potable water plaguing Tarung was raised in the State Assembly but the Minister concerned maintained that his department was not in a position to provide tap water facility to the village even though water pipes are now available, Joykishan said.
He nonetheless assured that he would invest maximum efforts to ensure that potable water is available at Tarung.
Announcing that construction of a club for the village would be started from October this year, the MLA also assured a Table Tennis board.
Joykishan reiterated his commitment to provide medical assistance to tribal students residing within Thangmeiband who wish to study medical courses.
Village secretary MK Adunna said that Tarung village was established at the foot of Langol Hills during the reign of king Garibniwas.
