KNF accuses KRA of assault

The Kuki National Front has today accused heavily armed KRA cadres of making a life attempt on its general secretary, Aaron Kuki on July 15 around 12.30 am.
Talking to media persons today at the outfit's designated Ebenezer Camp, Aaron Kuki said well equipped KRA cadres in combat fatigue numbering around 16 surrounded the residence of Aaron Kuki, who is also the Convenor of the UPF representatives for political dialogue�a party to SoO early morning of July 15 .
The KRA cadres asked the wife of Aaron to surrender her husband.
Then the cadres took away the PSO.
They also randomly opened fire and thrashed the wife and housemaids, Aaron charged adding that the incident sent shockwave among the innocent villagers.
In the nick of time, the 43 AR under the command of Maj Marathe arrived, he said adding that one KRA cadre was killed in a retaliatory firing by the AR personnel while the PSO escaped from the clutches of the abductors before reaching their camp.
Indicating that the KRA cadres came from a camp near Haijang village, which is unauthorised KRA camp, the KNF general secretary said his cadres were asked to restrain from retaliating for the sake of peace and tranquillity in the area.
Asserting that the life attempt on him by KRA cadres was a gross violation of SoO ground rules, the KNF general secretary urged the concerned authority to take necessary action immediately as per SoO agreement or else the KNF leaders would be compelled to defend themselves which can amount to breaching of peace.
The KNF also acknowledged the assistance of the AR in saving the situation.
It may be mentioned that both the KNF and KRA are party to the tripartite SoO agreement.
KNF is from the camp of UPF while KRA is from the KNO's camp.
