The Churachandpur District Students Union (CDSU) today said that it is going to organize a peace rally cum public meeting on Monday, 19 July at Lamka.
In a press conference held at VK Tawna College here at 4 pm, the president of the CDSU Richard Liana said that the union is taking a very serious note of wildcat strikes in the district like it was done today without prior information and expressed strong condemnation of bandhs and strikes on issues where the district has no stakes.
Reiterating that the Indigenous Tribe Leaders Council (ITLC) had also notified that bandhs in the district should only be imposed after the organization�s concurrence, the CDSU president said that the Union will be opposing such bandhs in the future and also urged all persons, especially the shop keepers not to be intimidated by threats.
All organizations or entities who want to impose bandhs and strikes should first get the ITLC and CDSU's concurrence, it said.
The CDSU also said that it is considering the recent attacks of the security forces at public places by UGs as an attack on the civil population as such attacks create an atmosphere of fear and terror and strongly condemn the attack carried out by unknown militants last night.
It said that it is constrained to organize a public meeting cum peace rally on 19 July to prepare the people for the dangers and challenges ahead.
The theme of the rally will be the restoration of peace in the district, it said.
