Role of Netaji in freedom movement recalled

Moirang, October 21 2019:
The 76th year of formation of provisional Govt of Azad Hind Fauz and Platinum Jubilee celebration of hoisting the Tri-colour organized by Vidya Bharati Shiksha Vikash Samiti, Manipur was held at INA Martyrs Memorial Complex, Moirang today.
The function was attended by BJP vice president of West Bengal and grand nephew of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Chadrakumar Bose as chief guest; Power Minister GoM Th Biswajit Singh as functional president and Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh and MLA Moirang AC P Sharatchandra Singh as guests of honour.
President Shiksha Vikash Samiti Manipur, Y Khogen; president Swagat Samiti Dr Ch Chandramani Singh and key members of the Samiti were also present in the function.
Speaking as chief guest at the event, Chandrakumar Bose said Moirang occupies a unique place in the freedom struggle of India in view of the sacrifice made by the freedom fighters of Manipur supporting the Indian National Army (INA) under the leadership of Netaji.
Bose said, institutions like National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and National Book Trust, India which frame curriculum of textbooks for schools and colleges should be asked by the Centre and Manipur Government to include one chapter of INA in Moirang in the history of the freedom struggle of India from the British.
He further said, the clarion call by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to march to Delhi from Moirang with the spirit of sacrifice will be a good learning point of patriotism for the generations.
He said, non-violence movement led by Mahatma Gandhiji and armed rebellion led by Netaji together forced the British to leave India in 1947 .
He added that the spirit of Indian Nationalism was the propelling force behind the INA.
A clear message needs to be sent now from Moirang to all other parts of the country for a collective effort by all Indians to achieve a socio-economic freedom for the people after political freedom.
Chandrakumar Bose continued that the Azad Hind Fauz was formed by about 60,000 patriots who were ready to sacrifice their life for the freedom of India.
Th Biswajit urged all to imbibe the spirit and patriotic fervour of Netaji for a peaceful and developed Manipur.
Later in the evening Bose also met Governor Dr Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The day was also observed jointly by the Department of Art and Culture and INA Advisory Committee at the same place.
Apart from paying tributes to the statue of Subhash Chandra Bose, the gathering also formally opened a Museum Shop.
A painting competition on the theme 'Role of Netaji in India's Freedom Movement' was also organised.
The competition was held in two categories with students from Class III to VI taking part in category A and Class VII to Class X in category B.Prizes including cash components were distributed to the position holders while consolation prizes were given to 10 participants in each of the two categories.
