A Budhachandra passes away

Aheibam Budhachandra, the first Manipuri film playback singer and the one who played crucial role in founding Roop Rag passed away this morning.
A condolence meeting held today at the office of Film Forum Manipur led by its Chairman L Surjakanta observed two minutes silence and prayed for the peace of the departed soul of the veteran singer, informed a press release of the Film Forum.
It said, Aheibam Budhachandra was 73 years old and his role in modern song and film are wordless to praise.
Attendees in the meeting expressed that his demise would remain an irreplaceable void in Manipuri film and song.
Meanwhile, in a condolence meeting presided over by Dr Hamom Naba Singh at the residence of B Netachandra Sharma today, Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) has observed two minutes silence for the peace of the departed soul of its Founder Vice-President and veteran singer Aheibam Budhachandra.
A press note of AMMIK said, A Budhachandra of Thangmeiband breath his last at 11.30 am today.
His demise has left an irreplaceable void in the field of Manipuri song.
It also shared the grief of the bereaved family.
Sargam cum Performing Musical Institute has also condoled the demise of the veteran singer by observing two minutes silence in a condolence meeting presided over by B Netachandra Sharma, and shared the grief of the bereaved family, informed in its press note.
Also, Manipur Film Development Corporation Ltd (MFDC) has in a condolence meeting with its Managing Director Dr K Sobita Devi in the chair observed two minutes silence and expressed deep sorrow on the veteran singer's untimely demise.
Roop-Raag has also condoled the demise of the veteran singer in a condolence meeting held at the residence of its President Aribam Shyam Sharma today.
