Imphal, May 18 2011:
Buckling under the threats of KCP (Maoists) and contrary to the what other candidates would like to say, Rajesh Kapoor, who is contesting as an independent candidate in the upcoming election to Imphal Municipal Council (IMC), has appealed to the people not to vote for him.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here today, Rajesh Kapoor, who has filed his nomination to contest in the election from ward number 25 of the Imphal Municipal Council for the 2nd Member of Ward Development Committee, announced that it is going to be the first and also the last nomination that he would be ever filing for any election.
He also said that he would never do anything which is against the wishes of the people.
Rajesh Kapoor is the owner of the Star Dry Cleaner located at Nagamapal Paonam Leikai, Imphal.
KCP (Maoists) has imposed restriction against his contest in the election through media and his shop has remained shut down since May 14 .
Rajesh Kapoor explained that May 12 was the last date of withdrawing the nomination papers.
However, after the media report imposing restriction on his candidature came out in the afternoon of May 13, he went to request the RO to allow withdrawal of his candidature.
But the RO told him that the time for withdrawal of nomination paper is over.
''My name has already been printed on the ballot papers.
But no one should cast their votes in favour of me.
Instead, please vote for other candidates of your own choice'', he pleaded the people.
Appealing for allowing his dry cleaning shop to be opened from tomorrow, Rajesh Kapoor pointed out that his shop has been the only source of livelihood for many staff apart from looking after the need of his family.
