Speaking at the occasion, Dr Avdhesh Kumar said Manipur has achieved success in controlling various vector borne diseases as compared to other North Eastern States.
But this success will only count if the efforts of staff and officials of NRHM continue.
Moreover, efforts from the State Governments are very much needed in order to control all other vector borne diseases in all States of the country, he said.
Other communicable diseases deserve serious attention and monitoring of such diseases is a must for each and every State of the North East.
He said that inadequate monitoring led to the outbreak of malaria in Tripura recently.
He added that the State Government should utilize the fund that has been granted by the Government of India as soon as possible for smooth functioning of this mission.
Huge amount of fund has been left untouched in the Treasury Department as the State Government is slow in taking up serious actions to utilize the funds, he said.
Dr Suresh Babu said that the success of NVBDCP will be felt when the flow of funds is smooth.
He added that the status of vector borne diseases in a State is the reflection of the socio economic conditions of the society.
To succeed in this mission, he said, various other departments have their parts to play.
Monitoring of vector borne diseases is very much needed.
He further said that qualified doctors are not readily available in rural areas.
Doctors are available only in primary health centres and in such conditions many people get marginalised.
So to reach each and every one and penetrate further in rural areas, Government of India and the State Governments should change the policy on health.
The regional review meeting is scheduled to go on till Jan 16 .
Dr O Ibomcha said that the State Government should restore the previous method of fund flow when there was no restriction of fund transfer from the State Government.
In the technical session, experts from various North East States presented papers and power-point presentations during the programme.
