Govt extends aid to blast victims

Reiterating State Government's assurance to the Railway authorities, project implementing agencies, construction agencies and workers that adequate security will be provide to ensure smooth implementation of the Railway line project, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to those grievously injured in the September 29 bomb blast.
Strongly condemning the blast and suspected shell attack on October 6 at Tunnel No.8 of Imphal-Jiribam Rail-line project injuring four and seven number of workers respectively, a statement issued by the CM's Secretariat described the attacks as inhuman and cowardly act intent on hampering progress of the Railway Project.
The Government has viewed this attack on the workers very seriously as against national interest and those responsible for the criminal act will not be spared but taken to task as per law of the land at the earliest, said the statement adding that Rs 10,000 each would be extended as financial assistance to those who suffered simple injury in the incidents.
