A convention on the occasion of the International Day In Support of Victims of Torture was organised by the Threatened Indigenous Peoples' Society (TIPS) Manipur at State Guest House, Sanjenthong today.
The convention was attended by retd Judge C Upendro as chief guest and was presided by TIPS president Aslam Khan.
During the convention, retd Col H Bhuban presented a paper on "Political Scenario in Manipur: Political Prostitution and Administrative Slavery to New Delhi" while Prof Ksh Bimola spoke on "Parliamentary Democracy in India: Its Impact Minority States Particularly to Manipur".
Prof W Nabakumar presented paper on "Ethos of Manipur: Threaten to the Verge of Extinction in their own Land" as Lecturer of LMS Law College Dr N Pramod delivered a speech on "Human Rights and Constitutionalism: The Emerging Challenge in Manipur".
Another paper on the topic "Manipuris: Threaten by Alien Cultural Forces" was presented by Ningthouja.
The presentation of papers was followed by an interaction session among the delegates and representatives of various organisations who attended the convention.
Photographs of numerous victims of violence were also displayed during the convention.
