CM inspects works progress at Capitol Project
April end deadline set for completion

Construction work on Assembly and High Court complexes as part of the larger Capitol Project would be completed by the end of April, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who went to inspect the progress of the construction work, has stated today.
Completion of the two projects has been delayed beyond the set target on account of the law and order problem in the State, he added.
Talking to mediapersons at the inspection site, the Chief Minister explained that the two projects have been taken up under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) in due consideration of the importance of Legislature, Judiciary and Executive in a democratic set up.
Though there has been some delayed in the construction work, efforts are being made for completion by the end of April.
So arrangements are being made for inauguration in May, the Chief Minister informed, adding that pressures are being exerted on the Prime Minister and the Union Law Minister in connection with setting up of a separate High Court of Manipur.

It may be recalled here that construction work on the Assembly complex at an estimated cost of Rs 161.60 was started in January 2006 while that of the High Court complex at an estimated cost of Rs 89.87 crores in June 2006 .
To a question on the inconveniences caused to the public on account of the developmental works being taken up by the Government, the Chief Minister appealed to the public to bear with the inconveniences at least for sometime.
Road construction works along Wahengbam Leikai, RIMS Road and Governor Road would be completed before the onset of rainy season, he assured, adding that construction works in connection with Sewerage Project in front of Raj Bhavan and along RIMS Road are being targeted to be completed within the current month or latest by first week of next month.
Expansion of road would be carried out in phase-wise manner and efforts are being made for construction of retaining walls of Naga Nullah and Nambul river properly, the Chief Minister added.
Speaker of Manipur State Assembly Irengbam Hemochandra, Works Minister K Ranjit Singh, IFC Minister N Biren and other Government officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspection.
