All staff of RIMS test negative for COVID-19
63 CRPF men test positive for COVID-19, total tally hits 1891

Recording a second highest single day spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, as many as 91 persons tested positive for contagion today taking the State's tally to 1891 .
The highest number of cases in a single day was recorded on July 10 with 132 persons testing positive for the virus.
A report furnished by the COVID-19 Common Control Room today showed that the 91 cases include 82 males and 9 females.
Of the 91 cases, 63 belong to Kangpokpi.
The others hail from Imphal West (3), Kamjong (6), Tamenglong (3), Thoubal (12) and Ukhrul (4).They are being shifted to designated COVID-19 Care Centres for treatment.
All containment and preventive measures are being taken up.
Active surveillance has been initiated, said the report.
On the other hand, 19 persons have been discharged from CCCs at Meitram (6 cases), Thoubal (1), Kamjong (7), RIMS (3) and JNIMS (2) .
The State now has 709 active cases.
The recovery rate stands at 62.50 with 1182 recovered from the disease, said the report.
Meanwhile, the 63 persons from Kangpokpi who have been confirmed for COVID-19 today are personnel of CRPF Training Centre, Kangpokpi.
And the 3 cases from Imphal West are army personnel of Leimakhong garrison.
All of them had returned from leave, added the report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Sources in the Kangpokpi district administration said that the 63 CRPF personnel were under quarantine at the Chil-Chil Asian Mission School, Kanglatongbi after they returned from leave.
Meanwhile, after five persons who had close contact with the COVID-19 positive Pradhan from Thoubal tested positive, 3 more persons who had close contact with a COVID-19 positive volunteer have also tested positive for the virus.
The volunteer was engaged in the quarantine centre opened at ITI Lilong.
It may be noted that the Thoubal district administration had launched door to door rapid antigen testing of suspected cases in several areas of Thoubal including Moijing Awang Leikai after the Pradhan, a Member of Gram Panchayat and one VDF personnel were tested positive for the COVID-19 recently.
During the antigen testing, five persons who had close contact with the Pradhan were tested positive.
Jiribam, which has emerged as a red zone, reported no case today.
After a doctor of RIMS who has been doing PG course in Physiology Department tested positive for COVID-19, all the staff of RIMS have been tested and all of them have been found negative for the contagion.
Moreover, all the departments, administrative block and offices of RIMS have been fumigated.
As there are reports that the doctor came into contact with 147 people outside RIMS, strict measures have been initiated to check the spread of coronavirus.
With Chief Minister N Biren in the chair, the State level Consultative Committee on COVID-19 held a meeting this evening and the meeting deliberated on tracing of contacts being done by Health Department after one doctor of RIMS and one Pradhan of Thoubal Moijing tested positive for the contagion.
Officials of Health Department told the meeting that the doctor came into contact with 147 people outside RIMS and he went to Medical Directorate, SBI and some other offices.
Health Department has taken up all necessary measures including testing of all the people who got into contact with the RIMS doctor.
Health officials also gave an account of the containment measures they took up after one Pradhan of Thoubal Moijing was tested positive for COVID-19.Experts who attended the meeting warned that one should not let down one's guard just because the number of recovered cases has surpassed the number of active cases in the State as the contagion can strike back again.
The meeting also discussed about stringent enforcement of social distancing norms even though the lockdown has been relaxed considerably, sources conveyed.
