Governor summons first session of 10th Assembly on March 19
Ibobi sworn in as 23rd Chief Minister

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was administered the oath of office and secrecy for the third consecutive term today at raj Bhawan while the first session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly has been pro-rogued by the Governor on March 19 .
Besides most of the elected representatives to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly and AICC observer Luzinho Faleiro, top officials of the State Government attended the oath taking ceremony.
Speaking to newspersons after the oath taking ceremony, the Chief Minister said that focus of his new Government would be on improving the power situation and ensuring clean drinking water to the people.
On the issue of electricity, he confided that privatisation of the power sector would be a priority for such a policy had been successful in major cities like New Delhi.
Hailing from Thoubal Athokpam Makha Leikai, Ibobi Singh was elected to the State Assembly for the first time as an independent candidate in the 1984 elections and joined the Indian National Congress in the same year.

A Bachelor's Degree holder in Arts, he retained the Khangabok Assembly Constituency on Congress ticket in 1990 and was the Industries and MAHUD Minister.
Ibobi went on to become the Chief Minister after being re-elected to the Assembly in 2002 from Khangabok AC and held the top post before shifting his constituency to Thoubal AC in 2007, which he continues to represent in his third term as the CM.
In between he also held the post of MPCC president in the 1980s.Ibobi was born on June 19, 1948 .
