'What actually the LOP meant and intended..' : NPF
July 17, 2020 , Kohima
The Naga People’s Front expressed surprised over the press release issued by the NDPP on 16th July 2020, in which it has mischievously quoted that the Leader of the opposition and former Chief Minister T.R Zeliang has quoted “The Truth” and that the Speaker has done fairly, for the first of its kind which was never done in the past.
What actually the LOP meant and intended was that the Speaker had done fairly as far as the procedural aspect of the trial is concerned but the NDPP has twisted to their advantage which is always their habit.
Therefore, the NPF on behalf of the LOP and former Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang would like to bring on record in the context in which LOP in his statement have said that the proceeding of the case was done in the right manner but never said that justice was delivered by the Speaker.
The LOP also wanted to convey the masses that for the first time in the history of the NLA, the Speaker has followed the due process of law with respect to conducting the trial of the disqualification case in which the Hon’ble Speaker have given both the parties fair chance of hearing and examination of witnesses but whether conducting a trail by following procedure and the decision recorded in contrary to the facts and law is to be looked into for ready reference.
The party opines that the records of the case speaks volumes wherein, it is now a matter of record that an honourable MLAs who were facing disqualification refuses to say under which party ticket he contested the election, refuses to identify his photo published in the newspaper, refuses that they have not replied to the show cause notice served by the party but the records speaks contra.
So the question arises whether the Hon’ble Speaker has rightly appreciated the facts, evidences in consonance with the settled process of law while recording the Judgement is a matter which shall be looked by the Hon’ble Court at the relevant time.
Meanwhile, the NPF has been observing that whenever the relationship of NDPP becomes sour with its alliance BJP, the NDPP has the habit of branding NPF and Congress alliance in the state in every of their statement. This cheap politics is nothing but just a tool to convince the BJP Central leaders and to win over their sentiments of the BJP high command.
However, the NPF would like to put the matter at rest that, during the last Lok Sabha election, the NPF have taken a stand to lend a one time issue-based support to the Congress candidate but going together in the election will not change the stand of the party regionalism nor will it reflect as an alliance partner with them.
