Victims’ kin demand clarity on scheme
The Telegraph | Ngangbam Indrakanta Singh | Imphal, Nov. 13:
Families of violence victims today demanded the Manipur government to produce a white paper on why it has stopped a central scheme which was providing them with financial assistance.
Angom said the scheme, introduced on January 25, 2010, provides a one-time grant of Rs 3 lakh to the victim’s next of kin. However, the state government stopped implementing the scheme after 2011, when the Union home ministry released an order to contribute only 30 per cent share in the scheme as against its cent per cent allotment earlier.
