VDF men revolt in border town , Jiribam

Hundreds of Village Defence Force (VDF) personnel on Monday night revolted against the government following detention of two of their colleagues by Assam Rifles troops at Jiribam along Manipur-Assam border.
Two VDF personnel Mujibur Rahaman (22) of Babupara, Jiribam and Paonam Pradip Singh (28) of Hilghat, both attached to Jiri police station, were allegedly detained separately by 22 Assam Rifles. Mujibur was detained at 6.30 pm while coming back from his duty while Pradip was picked up from Jiri Lamkhai.
