Imphal, 17th May 2020
MMoF Urges Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur Shri N Biren Singh to Impose PUBLIC CURFEW on Eid- ul-Fitr Which May Celebrate on May 23 or 24, 2020
The Union government LOCKDOWN till today (May 17) is ended. In our Manipur state, it has already been extended till May 31, 2020 by the nCOVID-19 Consultative Committee meeting yesterday. The Holy Eid ul Fitr may be on May 23 or 24.
The government may consider relaxing the LOCKDOWN due to Eid. But, we MMoF request Manipur government to impose PUBLIC CURFEW for at least 2/3 days in order to prevail the pandemic nCOVID-19 outbreak. We are agonized to increase positive cases of nCOVID-19 since stranded people started entering to Manipur via Train and private vehicles.
MMoF would love to endorse our People’s CM Slogan “Let people live first, celebrations and others can take place later.”

Eid-ul-Fitr 2020 is going to be celebrated in self-isolation, which kind of seems to go against the spirit of Eid, doesn’t it? Around the world, Eid is a holiday celebrated with the community, from praying together in the Masjid or Idgah to visiting our extended family to giving Zakat al-Fitr to the NEEDY.
However, we can still share in the blessings of Eid from the safety of our homes, while upholding our community spirit and spending time with family! Here are simple tips of MMoF for how you can have a blessed Eid during LOCKDOWN.
o The blessings of Eid don’t begin on Eid morning; we begin the night before Eid. In the midst of our Eid preparations, take the time to make a long Dua that Allah accepts our Ramadan efforts, and it won’t be rejected, Insha’Allah.
o Even though we aren’t going to the Masjid or Idgah leaving the house take the time to make Ghusl, put on some perfume and dress up on this blessed day! This will make the day feel more special and give us a break from our normal routine during LOCKDOWN.
o Even though we can’t leave the house, dress up! Decorate the house! Plan fun activities for the kids! If the past few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that we don’t need as much as we think we do - it’s possible to have a fun and meaningful time at home, with limited resources, and create beautiful memories.
o We can still uphold the community spirit of Eid in self-isolation. Zakat al-Fitr is a way of expressing love and care for NEEDY in our communities and sharing the blessings of Eid with them.
May Allah SWT accept our Ramadan efforts and shower us and our family with blessings this Eid, Aameen.
