Tipaimukh : Dhaka MPs demand more information exchange

Despite repeated assurances of no adverse impact of Tipaimukh Hydro-electric Project on Bangladesh, visiting parliamentarians from Dhaka expressed huge apprehensions regarding the downstream effects likely to hit the environment and biodiversity of their country.
A parliamentary delegation from Bangladesh visiting Assam on Saturday said India needs to consider the adverse downstream impact of any mega-project on these rivers since they are trans-boundary rivers and the lower riparian countries might have to face huge negative impact if the projects are implemented without proper study. Bangladeshi Parliament continues to claim that the information provided by India on the project is not enough.
