The Long Jump to Ancestral Land
Nagaland Post | Aheli Moitra | Oct 10 :
When the 10 men, from a group of 30 men and women, started the Huai (traditional Zeliangrong celebration song), it wasn’t apparent that most of them had met each other for the first time. They stumbled at first but pulled it off the second time. The ceremony was a start to the Zeliangrong Ancestral Land Expedition 2012 on October 6 from Peren Town. Nagaland Minister T.R. Zeliang flagged it off officially.
“It was unimaginable for our generation to come together like this through the use of technology,” exclaimed Zeliang, asking the youth to spread the message of unity and rights where they go over the next few days. The Expedition is an initiative of the Zeliangrong Citizens Forum (ZCF), itself put together in 2011 following a close collaboration of participating members of the Zeliangrong Naga group on Facebook. Here emerged the idea that young people should visit their Zeliangrong areas, trifurcated into Nagaland, Assam and Manipur, to make an effort towards unity.
