The Change of the Hen
Soubam Tomba Luwang*
The eggs the hen brooded on
revolutions’ beak, unable to wait longer,
chipped them open
before the number of days was complete.
The hen's world-stream
turned into a channel of blood.
The blood smeared revolution,
chased by the hen and the cock couple,
sprinted away directions unknown;
having tossed away the mask of change.
Revolution failed to see
the task of the hen.
But the hen knew the pulsation of change:
change does not exist in the dense woods;
it is in the thick of people
that furrows and books of change flow.
